How to Participate?
If you haven’t played Walken before, please follow the steps below to get started:
- Download Walken in the App Store for iOS or Google Play Market for Android.
- Select a method to sign in (and make sure to remember which one you chose in case you'd need to sign into your account later).
- Get your new crypto wallet.
Please always backup your secret recovery phrase offline and keep it safe! A secret recovery phrase (or a seed phrase) is a 12-word sequence which is a key to your wallet and all the assets it stores.
Important note: if the secret phrase gets lost or stolen, there is nothing the Walken team or anyone else can do to help you access your wallet or get back your stolen assets.
4. Once you have the wallet, it’s time to meet your first in-game character CAThlete! It will compete in various running races and earn their owner $WLKN tokens for winning in competitions. There are no two identical CATletes in the game. Each of them is generated randomly from a set of genes (tail, body, ears, muzzle, environment, and color) that determines both its appearance and skills. So, these in-game characters not only look differently — they all vary in stats points and rarity.
Each new player receives their first Catlete for free! The first CAThlete you get is not yet an NFT but it will become one upon reaching Level 6 in the game.
Having met your in-game character, you are now ready to start playing and earning in Walken! Here's a handy gameplay guide if you'd feel like getting some instructions!
What about the closed beta testers?
If you’ve already played Walken before as a closed beta tester, please foolow the steps below:
- Download the application using the links: App Store for iOS or Google Play Market for Android.
- Sign in with the same method they chose when registering for the closed beta. Please be careful here: if you choose the wrong sign in method, a new account will be created instead of login into your existing one from closed beta! In this case, you'll have multiple accounts and will be banned.
- Enter your wallet pass-phrases (the one from closed beta) to log into your wallet. Once done, you'll be logged into your Walken account from closed beta, with all the assets and progress transferred!
How much does it cost to start playing?
Walken is built on the free2play game model. In line with the goals to democratise DeFi and bring more people to Web3, Walken focuses on enabling everyone to join in and start walking earning right from the start with zero investment. That means there are no entry costs to begin playing, so you can start with zero-investment. Moreover, as it was mentioned before, every new player will get their first CAThlete and wallet for free.

Each box is guaranteed to have one NFT (CAThlete or item, depending on the type of the box) of common, uncommon, rare, epic or legendary rarity. The percentages of each rarity dropping ranges from box to box, with the common item/CAThlete most likely to drop from a Basic box and the legendary one having more chances to fall from a Premium box.
BREEDING FEATURE: Your CAThletes Can Evolve ?
Here’s a sneak pic of one more cool feature we’re working on: BREEDING! Once the feature is released, players can breed a new CAThlete that will inherit a unique gene set from its parents.
This will allow players to keep making their CAThletes stronger, developing a particular stats to win more competitions and earn more $WLKN, or to sell offspring for a profit ?

In future we have a vision to create a Walken protocol, a platform for similar games by us and other developers. We can use WLKN token as well as NFTs from Walken game, which gives tremendous benefits to early players and investors.
FEEDING NFT Lifespan
Soon CAThletes will need to be fed to keep competing and earning $WLKN. That is, CAThletes will have a lifespan and players will be able to extend it. This feature will be introduced as part of our efforts to combat NFT price inflation and keep players actively engaged. More details will be posted on our Medium soon!
IEO
Another major event is the IEO and listing of the $WLKN token. $WLKN is a SPL-Token that is based on Solana Smart Contract. It is secured according to Solana hybrid protocol of proof-of-stake (PoS) and a concept Solana calls proof-of-history (PoH). $WLKN is a key Walken token that drives the in-game economy ensuring its stability while allowing players to monetize their activity and play to earn.
$WLKN token can be earned in Walken as a reward for winning competitions. Defeating others in races ensures a player a certain amount of tokens. The higher the League a player participates in, the larger is the prize pool and the more tokens they can win. Another way to earn $WLKN is selling items and CAThletes on Marketplace.
Developing CAThletes and taking them to a higher level also requires a certain amount of $WLKN, but each new level reached boosts player’s chances to win more tokens as they become able to join higher Leagues with a stronger and faster CAThlete. Such mechanics are a good incentive to use the token in the game, which in turn contributes to stable tokenomics.
