Hello again, fellow Protonians!

I have another question about building on Proton:

Is the role of a database (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB ) obviated to some degree when building on top of a blockchain? What does the blockchain do better in this regard?

Blockchains are essentially databases, however in most cases data is never deleted, only appended. Depending upon the use case you may want to go with a centralized database for faster read and write times, however if you want connectivity between apps and universal truth blockchain is great. Proton can handle storing small profile photos, etc but if you want to go for larger files IPFS is the way.
